Hendrik Ploeger (1965) graduated in Dutch law at Leiden University and in civil and notary law at the Free University of Amsterdam. In 1997 he completed his PhD thesis on the subject of ownership of land and the horizontal division of the ownership rights. In the same year he carried out a comparative legal research at the E.M. Meijers Institute of Legal Studies on the subject of bored tunnels and the rights of landowners.
After an assistant-professorship in civil and notary law at Leiden University, he took up in 2001 an assistant-professorship at Delft University of Technology.
In January 2009 onwards he holds the chair of land law and land registration at the Free University of Amsterdam.
In the past years he published in the field of land law, land registration and human rights.
He is chairman of the FIG working group on 3D Cadastres, member of the editorial
board (section private law) of Ars Aequi
publishers (The Netherlands), and the
editorial advisory board of the International Journal of Law in the Built Environment
(Emerald Group Publishing).
